It is now Tuesdey afternoon following Championship Sunday in the NFL, and the sting is still there. I along with thousands of other Ravens fans are still hurting after what was one of the biggest let downs in franchise history. Before we get into the belly-aching, hats off the the Kansas City Chiefs on another trip to the super bowl. With the Belichicks and Saban’s of the world retiring, it looks like America’s newest dynasty is Andy Reid and the Chiefs. So again, hats off to them and what they’ve got going on.

Now… Let’s talk Ravens.

Being a lifelong fan of this team and following every triumph and heartbreak since 2005 (when i really got into football) I think i can say that’s easily the most aggravating loss I have witnessed. I was in Pittsburgh back in 2008 for the AFC Championship game, I remember Billy Cundiff missing that field goal like it was yesterday, and I’ll always remember the abrupt end to “Big Truzz” back in 2019. I’ve since gotten over all of those losses mentioned above, but the Ravens’ loss to the Chiefs this past Sunday is going to bother me for awhile. It was a strange game, and one that left me feeling nothing but anger at the end. All losses are dissappointing, but this one felt different. This wasn’t like losing on a last second field goal or interception. This was 4 quarters of the the best team in football stumbling over themselves. Starting from the top down it felt like Harbaugh and his coordinators were completely outcoached and outclassed by the Chiefs. Now Mike Macdonald’s defense did step up bigtime in the second half, but it was for nothing as OC Todd Monken easily called his worst gameplan of the season. If you were a Ravens fan who watched every game this season Sunday the team that took the field looked unreconizable. They didn’t play their style of football at all to put it blunt. This always seems to be the case in the biggest games of the season. We thought Greg Roman’s offense was the problem, when Monken’s ended our season the same way. To summarize it, 2023 felt like the year to win it all. We now have an action-packed offseason ahead of us where we’re expected to lose one of not both coordinators offensive and defensive. As well as a slew of free agents who were impact players on this team. Can’t help but feel like we let the best chance we might ever have with Lamar Jackson slip away…
